Parental Guidance Official Trailer 2012

It's going to be a tough decision for moviegoers who want to escape the family togetherness of Christmas Day for a few hours. They could either escape into the dusty, blood-splattered old west of Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" or they could face something even more horrifying: a Bette Midler/Billy Crystal comedy called "Parental Guidance." Based on the just-premiered trailer (courtesy of Yahoo), this could be absolute torture. Directed by Andy Fickman, who has had a bafflingly steady career directing utter garbage like "You Again," "Race to Witch Mountain," "The Game Plan," and "She's the Man" (which has become a tween-age cult classic – yes, seriously), "Parental Guidance" concerns two kooky grandparents (Midler and Crystal) who agree to babysit for their daughter (Marisa Tomei, clearly slumming it).

The holidays are, of course, when families come together to celebrate the spirit of the season, and Hollywood is always prepared to woo the whole family to the multiplex with all sorts of new films. 20th Century Fox and Walden Media have joined forces to get the holiday crowds excited for Parental Guidance, a new comedy starring Billy Crystal and Bette Midler as an older married couple whose daughter (Marisa Tomei) asks them to babysit her three children while she and her husband go away for work. Of course, wackiness ensues (when does it not?), as the old-school grandparents clash with a more modern style of parenting that’s dissimilar from they raised their child.

Despite a few tendencies to indulge in Three Stooges-esque slapstick, the Parental Guidance trailer shows a bit of promise, at least in Crystal and Midler getting to bounce off each other for a couple of hours.

Story Line- When his daughter goes away for work, a grandfather finds himself having to take care of his three grandkids using 21st century methods -- though he soon resorts to an old-school style of parenting.
