A Late Quartet Official Trailer 2012

The first poster is up from Rko Pictures' Philip Seymour Hoffman starrer A Late Quartet directed by Yaron Zilberman. This comes affter adding the trailer yesterday for the film currently at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, which opens in theaters on November 2nd, 2012. A Late Quartet follows beloved cellist of a world-renowned string quartet who receives a life changing diagnosis, the group's future suddenly hangs in the balance: suppressed emotions, competing egos, and uncontrollable passions threaten to derail years of friendship and collaboration.
As they are about to play their 25th anniversary concert, quite possibly their last, only their intimate bond and the power of music can preserve their legacy. Inspired by and structured around Beethoven's Opus 131 String Quartet in C-sharp minor, A Late Quartet pays homage to chamber music and the cultural world of New York. A movie about one member of a famous New York City string quartet feeling inferior and making a power play doesn't, on its face, sound enthralling. Sprinkle in some Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the story's arrogant, entitled Walter White, Catherine Keener as his also-in-the-quartet wife, and Christopher Walken, and suddenly you're looking at an intriguing film.
Walken appears to be doing some real showpiece acting, playing the quartet's leader, who's facing retirement due to Parkinson's. The latter half of the trailer is set to Walken monologuing about Beethoven's "Opus 131," a difficult seven-movement piece that's totally analogous to the plot of A Late Quartet.

Story Line-Follows four members of a world-renowned string quartet who struggle to stay together in the face of death, competing egos and insuppressible lust.
