Passion 2013 Official Trailer

Intrigue always surrounds any film with a lesbian love connection. Typically these films are indpendents that have a small release or are viewed only during festivals; artistic movies that combine eroticism, intrigue, suspense, and an emotional attraction, are definitely few and far between. And for director Brian de Palma, that is exactly the film he's releasing at the Toronto International Film Festival next month.

Passion starring Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace is a dark tale about two women in the corporate world. Of all the established directors out there, I find myself consistently struggling with where to place Brian De Palma. There have been times in his career where he shows pure brilliance, and even more times where De Palma has delivered some of the most insanely idiotic pictures in film history.

He is back once again, directing his first film in over five years, Passion. The trailer, released this week, suggests a possible return to form for De Palma is on the cards, which means either it will be a seductive thriller or an outlandish embarrassment. Check it out below; A stylish and creative eye, Brian De Palma is sometimes consumed by his flair for the melodramatic to an annoying fault. Though he is never one to shy away from edgy material, and when he hits the mark he is as good as anyone of the disciples of the 1970s American film movement.

There are plenty of films in Brian De Palma’s filmography that I consider “horror”. In particular, I always rather enjoyed Raising Cain. Dressed To Kill of course is his homage to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. And now this looks like it could be a return to form for the famed director. Below you’ll find the teaser trailer to Passion, his remake of Alain Corneau’s 2011 French film Love Crime. Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace have never been hotter and it looks like things will get pretty hot between the two in this thriller in which “A young businesswoman plots murderous revenge after her boss and mentor steals her idea.”
